Gas hydrate (GH) is a very new energy
resource for activities of geological research and survey in Việt Nam. Therefore, the determination of geological
premises and signs related to GH in the East Việt Nam Sea
in general, and in the Ph
Khnh and Tư Chnh - Vũng My (PK-TCVM) area in particular, has special significance. Experiences in the study, investigation and exploration from all over the
world, as well as survey data from countries of East Asia give us a full and vivid picture on pressure conditions, temperature, sea floor depth, stratigraphy, surface sediments, subbottom sediments, structural geology, tectonic setting, origin, and environment of formation and accumulation of GH. These data are the basis for correlation with the East Việt Nam Sea and the PK-TCVM study area, helping us
to
visualize areas with possible
GH potential and to orientate the research,
investigation at the investigation stage in the assessment of the GH
potential.
